Surah Al Anfal Ayat 37-38 Translation Tafseer

Para 9 - قَالَ الْمَلَاُ

سورة الانفال

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

8.37-38

لِیَمِیْزَ اللّٰهُ الْخَبِیْثَ مِنَ الطَّیِّبِ وَ یَجْعَلَ الْخَبِیْثَ بَعْضَهٗ عَلٰى بَعْضٍ فَیَرْكُمَهٗ جَمِیْعًا فَیَجْعَلَهٗ فِیْ جَهَنَّمَؕ-اُولٰٓىٕكَ هُمُ الْخٰسِرُوْنَ۠ (37) قُلْ لِّلَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْۤا اِنْ یَّنْتَهُوْا یُغْفَرْ لَهُمْ مَّا قَدْ سَلَفَۚ-وَ اِنْ یَّعُوْدُوْا فَقَدْ مَضَتْ سُنَّتُ الْاَوَّلِیْنَ(38)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

So that Allah separates the foul from the pure[1] and places the impure over one another, all together, in a pile to cast them into Hell; it is they who are the losers. Say to the disbelievers that if they desist, they will be forgiven for what has come to pass.[1] But if they return ˹to fight˺, then the example of the predecessors has already occurred.

Commentary

A believer is ‘طیب’, i.e. pure due to his faith, and a disbeliever is ‘خبیث’ (foul) due to his disbelief; to call a Muslim ‘خبیث’ is not permissible.

If a disbeliever renounces disbelief and embraces Islam, then his previous disbelief and sins are pardoned.
